BBVA to Offer Cryptocurrency Services in Spain

BBVA, a major Spanish bank, has received approval from the Spanish Securities and Exchange Commission (CNMV) to offer cryptocurrency services to retail clients in Spain. Initially, it will allow users to buy and sell Bitcoin and Ether through its mobile app, as well as provide cryptocurrency custody services using its own technology. This move follows BBVA's previous ventures in crypto, including offering services in Switzerland and Turkey. By using its own custody solution, BBVA differentiates itself from other banks, which typically partner with third-party providers. The goal is to provide a secure and simple platform for customers to invest in digital assets.
